Lead Pastor: Garet Halbert
If Garet could describe himself in one word, it would be “redeemed”. Originally from the Midwest, his life's passion was baseball, which led him to be a pitcher at North Central Missouri College. However, God used a shoulder injury and the emptiness of sin and self-gratification to show him his great need of redemption. Through a college ministry, Garet learned that we are made by God to live for God but that we've rejected God in sin and selfishness. It was the first time Garet grasped that he needed salvation from both God's wrath against him and sin's power over his heart and desires. And this salvation and redemption is only through Jesus Christ who lived obediently, died for our disobedience, and raised from the dead to give us His Spirit that we may live a life of saying "no" to sin and "yes" to God (Ezekiel 36:26-27).
About 6 months after he repented and believed in Jesus, he felt God's call to enter ministry. He simultaneously enrolled in a Bible College and served as a Youth Pastor for three years. During that time he grew in his love for the gospel and people, and earned a B.A. in Biblical Studies from Midwestern College. In preparation to be a lead pastor, he earned a Masters of Divinity with an emphasis in Biblical Languages from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also trained with the NETS Center for Church Planting and Revitalization and Christ Proclamation Church. It's absolutely remarkable that God's heart is for the redemption of the ruined and sinful to His eternal glory through the Son. To be redeemed and preach redemption in Jesus is Garet's life passion.
Garet is married to his incredible wife, Heidi, and they have four daughters (Selah, Sophia, Noël, and Naomi). In his free time, he enjoys working out, watching sports, reading theology and history, and working on their fixer-upper!
Future Elders
We believe in a plurality of elders. So as our church plant continues to develop, we are seeking to raise up elders to lead and shepherd the flock of God here at Redemption. We have completed a Leadership training in 2026 and are seeking to have ordained elders by the year's end. Currently, we are under the authority, leadership, and guidance of the Elders at Christ Proclamation.
